Learn to make your own artisan handcrafted soap. Handmade soap is mild and nourishing to your skin and when you make it yourself, you know what's in it.
This is not melt and pour soap - this is cold process soapmaking with lye and fixed oils. If you've never tried handmade soap available at farmer's
markets and craft fairs, you're probably wondering why anyone would spend $5 or more on a bar of soap. Try it once and you'll be hooked!
Supplies are easily found locally or online and creating your own soap makes each bar economical. It makes a wonderful gift for men, women and children
alike as well as being a decorative accent to any decor.
In the demo/lecture portion of the the class, students learn the history and process of soapmaking, watch a demonstration of a batch of soap being made by the instructor, take home free samples, recipes, and a 20 page instruction
booklet and resource listing.
The soapmaking lab immediately follows the demo/lecture class. Students will make their own 6 bar batch of soap to take home. The class fee includes safety equipment, round soap mold with liner, all vegetable oil ingredients and
tools.
This class is not appropriate for children due to the caustic nature of the materials used in making cold process soap.
