Any decorator or interior designer will tell you the quickest and most economical way to update your home is with new accessories such as pillows. Sewing your own pillows is the easiest way to save money while displaying your own creativity and style.

Some sewing experience is required for this class. Students must be able to thread their machine, fill and change the bobbin and sew a simple seam.

This class is 2 1/2 hours.

Fees:

Group class (2-5 people)     $25 per class
Machine rental                    $10 per class

Students will learn:
  • How to measure and calculate required yardage
  • How to construct knife edge pillowcovers with fringe, piping or ruffles
  • Different closure techniques - lapped zipper, button and overlapped back seam

Supplies needed:
  • 12", 14", or 18" pillow form
  • 1 yard of home dec weight fabric
  • One polyester zipper (not metal or invisible zipper), 2 inches shorter than pillow form
  • Matching thread
  • Zipper foot for your sewing machine (will be provided if you are renting a machine).
