Project: Embellished Journal/Book Cover

Make a custom fabric cover for any size notebook, book, journal or calendar and embellish with paint, dye, trims, buttons, embroidery, stamps, hardware, whatever! Ann will also demonstrate how to machine applique fabric motfis on the cover.

Supply list:

  • Notebook, paperback book, calendar, journal, etc.
  • Fabric and batting scraps - enough to make 3 rectangles that cover both sides of book
  • A variety of embellishments
  • Pictures of ideas - just Google "embellished journal cover" and you'll find lots!

Supply list:

Reversible Handbag:

  • 1/2 yd main fabric*
  • 1/3 yd lining fabric* for reverse
  • 1/3 yd interfacing (fleece interfacing preferred, muslin, or light-weight canvas), 44/45” wide
  • 1/4 yd extra heavy-weight inaterfacing (such as Peltex™ or Timtex™) double-sided fusible preferred, but not necessary, 18"+ wide
  • 3 yds fusible web, 3/8" wide, or fabric glue (only needed if extra heavy-weight interfacing above is non-fusible)
  • Seam sealant (like Fray Check™ - follow manufacturer's directions)
  • 2 super heavy-duty craft magnets, 1/2"-3/4" wide (super strong, thin, metal ones)
  • matching thread

Flower Pin:

  • 1/8 yd fabric for Outer Petals
  • 1/8 yd fabric for Inner Petals
  • 1 large button, 30mm+ (approx. 1 1/4")
  • 2" x 4" felt scrap for Flower back
  • 2" x 2" felt scrap for Flower center (optional)
  • Sew-on pin back or safety pin
  • Thread

Project: Nostalgic Tote

This is an unlined tote made with heavy-weight canvas ticking. If you want a lining and pockets, adjust supplies to include those elements.

  • 20" rick rack trim

This is a really easy small, self-lined bag that can be used as a purse or cosmetics bag.

Project: Jewelry Pouch from Serendipity Studios

Supply list:

  • 1/2 yard of lightweight cotton fabric(can be 2 coordinating fat quarters)
  • 1/2 yard of Dupioni silk (or other thin lining material)
  • 1/2 yard of lightweight fusible interfacing (you could probably skip this - mine came out a little stiff)
  • 2 yards 1/2" ribbon or cording (or make your own from fabric)
  • matching thread

Project:Criss Cross Bag

Supply list:

  • 1-1/4 yds fabric for bag body and lining
  • 1/2 yd fabric for binding and pocket linings
  • 1-1/4 yds 44" wide fusible tricot interfacing (See note)
  • 24x42" craft fleece or thin quilt batting
  • Black frog closure
  • 3 3" long black tassels
  • U-shape handle of bamboo beads with 5-1/2” opening between handle ends
  • Topstitch needle size 90/14
  • Magnetic snap set

Finished bag: 12x12x3"

NOTE: If using fabric that frays easily, make sure you fuse tricot interfacing to fabric's wrong side before cutting out the pattern pieces.
