This 4 class series will teach you the techniques necessary to complete a quilt from start to finish.

It's really not about what you produce for your first project, its all about learning specific skills that are necessary to produce any quilt of any size. Students will provide their own fabric to make a baby/lap sized quilt (36" square) like the ones pictured to the left.

Some sewing experience is required for this series. Students must be able to thread their machine, fill and change the bobbin and sew a simple seam. If you have your own portable machine, please bring it with the instruction manual and accessories. Otherwise, there are machines available to use for a fee.

Each class in this series is 2.5 hours.

Fees:

Group class (2-4 people)     $80 for the series
Machine rental                    $40 for the series

Note: Minimum age is 15. Class fees must be paid in advance to reserve your spot. Pay online using the links below or email classes@austinstitchingstudio.com to make other payment arrangements.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Refunds for missed classes are in the form of class credit for a future class only. You must notify me by email at least one week in advance to receive a class credit. This allows me time to sign up another student in your place in the missed class.

Class 2 : Piecing Basics

• Learn about a variety of piecing techniques
• Piece your quilt top

Class 3: Machine Quilting Basics

• Batting types
• Pin basting the quilt layers
• Simple machine quilting techniques with a walking foot

Class 4: Binding and Finishing Basics

• Creating binding strips
• Binding your quilt using the double French Binding technique
• Hand finishing the binding
• Labeling your quilt
